Man has always treated sin as misfortune, not as crime, as disease not guilt.
As sin is too great an evil to be a part of God's nature, so is righteousness to high for man to reach.
The distance between God and sin is infinite, that is to say, perfection and sin are antithetical (complete opposite)
I think the main question we ought to ask ourselves is (if we are Christians even) are we willing to make the pursuit of God more important than the selfish pursuit of pleasure, power, or possessions?
You see...The problem with America behind it all, is it's people, and it starts down on they're underlying principles, presuppositions, metaphysics AKA theory of reality.
Kind of like a house, you can't build a house without first lying out it's foundation.
Well America is the house and we are the foundation.
The American people have been brain-washed so to speak(which this term seems to be quite effective

)in part with they're sin, by secular humanism, indoctrinated into a certain theory of reality or 'metaphysics' (as the term is used in logic), that all is relative.. that there is no absolute truth. "What's right for you is right for you, and what's right for me is right for me!"
Now I can see your point IF your basing your belief in God on personal preference, like.... "You like brocolli and cheese, but I don't, it's just not for me" then you can make statements like that about God...
However, some things apply to everyone, whether they accept that or not. God is one of those things...so is gravity

One cannot just assert, "hey, I don't feel like being held down to the surface of the earth today" hahaha I would say that God is "for you" whether or not you are for Him. Its easy to suppress what we don't want to hear. God isn't a "try before you buy" kinda deal.
More importantly, We are vastly growing in Hedonism(which goes hand and hand with relativism), the philosophy that pleasure is of ultimate importance, the most important pursuit.
And no matter how fast or how slow the train is moving towards the cliff ....It will eventually run off of the cliff. Kinda like our present government It's on it's way off the cliff

.
On a more serious note

Man cannot escape God, cannot escape his duty before God, and his self-serving exploits end in ultimate ruin.
Anyways, most people, or should I say it seems like the majority, pick up on it and adopt it as they're own without any real deep thought about it. it's like a constant state of denial.like a bad habit they intrinsically build in themselves, they believe in this way of life so strongly, yet in what are they believing exactly? they are what you would call "reeds blowing in the wind" The wind goes one way so they do too. Mindless sheep following blindly, without caution. And to think, these people vote!!!!
Now that is something to be afraid of!
